| Update from the Summer Softball season... We finished tied for 1st in the league! We will get a plaque in mid-September. Not bad for a team that went 2-12 two years ago!
Sheri went to Sacremento with Marissa today, so I'll have Mikayla and Christian by myself until Tuesday. Marissa learned a valuable lesson via airport security today. Even though she had been told several times yesterday, she still thought she'd take along one of her bottles of kiddie perfumes in her backpack. She now has one less bottle of perfume!
On another topic, I certainly don't want to make a living as a reviewer of much of anything, but I recently got my hands on an advance copy of Bebo Norman's new album. I am not afraid to admit that I have a bit of a man-crush on Bebo. The first two singles ("I will lift my eyes" and "Be my covering" are pretty good. Whenever a new Bebo CD comes out, you will always hear some critics say, "This song is the next Great Light of the world" Well, I can't say that about this album, but I would say that "My eyes have seen Holy" is even better! The album releases September 19th. Check it out, preferably at your local Parable Christian Store!
| So, we had a visitor to the store yesterday.... Stephen Baldwin (who has family in town) stopped by on his way to a festival.
The funny thing was when he was leaving, he set off the sensors by our front door. With his hands in the air and a grin on his face, he walked back in and announced "Baldwin, busted in Omaha!"
Really, he was very nice and had fun with the situation. Too bad we didn't get any pictures.....
| Well, we had our final softball game of the season. Two years ago we were 2-12. This year, we went 10-4 and probably finished 1st or 2nd in the league. We have a guy that gets sent to Saudi Arabia next week for the Air Force, so we arranged a special treat for him. After each batter, he would rotate through the different positions until he had played all 10.
Tomorrow is Christian's first birthday. Unfortunately, it's my night to close, so we will do the party thing at my dad's on Wednesday. Christian is really a little goof! He claps, waves, and does the all important "Touchdown!"
| Yeah, I'm still here..... Things have been busy! We had VBS at our church last week with 224 kids showing up at least 1 day!!! Two years ago was our first time over 100! Mikayla was so excited to actually take part this year that she wanted to go back this week.
Marissa starts first grade on the 14th. (Where has the summer gone?!?)
I'll be heading to KC on the 18th for Promise Keepers, but so far, I am the only one from our church that I know of that is attending, and I have yet to find a place to stay....
One game left on the Spring/Summer softball season. We are 9-4!!! Not too bad for only having 2 wins two years ago!
| to come in to a store at 9:00 (closing time) and aknowledge that you are about to close and that they will hurry to find what they came for, then proceed to spend the next 25 minutes trying to pick out books and the perfect bookmark to go with them?! And, to top that off, the granddaughter (who was 11 and should know better) had to use the restroom and decided it would be fun to not flush the toilet afterwards.... | | |
